The Thisle (poem 2026)
Back in '97'...
The Thisle grew from a crack in the sidewalk,
By the brick wall...
Like an all seeing alien eye...
Purple flower...
War of the Worlds...
Eye of the spacecraft....
Seeing everything...
Drunk on mushrooms,
After morning coffee...
I saw it standing alone...
Thorny stalk....
Glassy green...
Everyday it stood...
In the Sun,
All the way to school...
And back again..
Everyday I saw it still,
Tall and grown...
Solitary still...
All summer long...
In blazing heat,
But just a weed...
But a poetic beauty...
Then one day,
I noticed something strange...
Weed whacked...
And it was gone...
Forever...
But I will always remember...
Where it stood...
And it's lonely days...
